Pressure BioSciences buys contract research services company's assets

Pressure BioSciences, Inc. acquired all assets of privately held contract research services company BaroFold Inc.

The acquisition, which closed Dec. 12, includes assets such as all of BaroFold's patents, equipment and intellectual property related to its PreEMT high-pressure protein refolding technology.

PreEMT is a patented technology that employs high pressure for the disaggregation and controlled refolding of recombinant proteins into their native structures for desired pharmacological activity.

Under the deal, Pressure BioSciences issued 150,000 restricted shares of the its common stock to BaroFold.

After the closing, the life sciences research equipment maker would pay $150,000 as part of the purchase price of BaroFold's assets by Dec. 29.
