Kao USA to buy Oribe Hair Care for undisclosed sum

Japanese personal products maker Kao Corp.'s unit Kao USA Inc. agreed to buy Oribe Hair Care LLC for an undisclosed sum to add to its portfolio of professional hair styling brands, the company said Dec. 20.

Oribe Co-founder and Co-president Daniel Kaner will be appointed president of the newly acquired entity following completion of the deal, which is subject to customary regulatory and other approvals.

Kao will add the well-known Oribe brand to its other professional hair styling brands, including Goldwell and KMS, in the Kao Salon division. Oribe's headquarters will remain in New York City under its current management.
