Tomy fiscal Q4 loss widens YOY

Tomy Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 came to a loss of ¥27.96 per share, compared with a loss of ¥10.76 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥2.39 billion, compared with a loss of ¥914.0 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to negative 6.8% from negative 2.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 7.8% on an annual basis to ¥34.97 billion from ¥32.43 billion, and total operating expenses grew 12.8% on an annual basis to ¥37.92 billion from ¥33.62 billion.

Reported net income came to a loss of ¥3.93 billion, or a loss of ¥45.93 per share, compared to a loss of ¥1.88 billion, or a loss of ¥22.18 per share, in the prior-year period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥10.24 per share, a decline of 25.1% from ¥13.68 per share in the prior year.

Normalized net income was ¥872.1 million, a decrease of 30.2% from ¥1.25 billion in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue increased 8.8% on an annual basis to ¥163.07 billion from ¥149.94 billion, and total operating expenses rose 8.7% year over year to ¥160.37 billion from ¥147.47 billion.

The company said reported net income came to a loss of ¥6.70 billion, or a loss of ¥78.74 per share, in the full year, compared with a loss of ¥1.82 billion, or a loss of ¥19.91 per share, the prior year.
