French trade deficit widens in January

French foreign trade deficit expanded in January to €5.56 billion from a revised €3.40 billion deficit in December 2017, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies showed.

The rise in the deficit reflected a decrease in French exports to €40.26 billion in January from the revised €41.90 billion in December 2017. Imports ticked up to €45.82 billion during the first month of 2018 from the revised €45.30 billion in December 2017.
