Verizon CommunicationsInc. unit Verizon Wirelessand T-Mobile US Inc. unitT-Mobile License LLC are seeking the FCC's permission to test 5G technologies, Wireless Week reported March 29, citing filingswith the agency.
In a request filedin the week of March 21, Verizon Wireless is seeking a six-month special temporaryauthorization to conduct experimental operations using prototype equipment in the27.5 GHz to 28.5 GHz range. The company plans to test equipment from Ericsson, Intel,Qualcomm and Samsung from April 1 to Sept. 30.
T-Mobile License, meanwhile, said in its filingthat it plans to test millimeter wave technology in the 28 GHz, 38 GHz and 39 GHzbands near its headquarters in Bellevue, Wash.
