Report: Lebanon receives Interpol's red notice for former Nissan chairman

Lebanon has received an Interpol arrest warrant for former Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. chairman Carlos Ghosn, who recently fled Japan, Reuters reported Jan. 2, citing a Lebanese judicial source.

Ghosn, who arrived in Lebanon on Dec. 30, 2019, was detained in Japan for a series of alleged financial misconducts and violations as Nissan chairman.

Lebanon's internal security forces reportedly received an Interpol red notice, which calls on authorities to arrest a wanted person.

The report noted that the security forces are yet to refer the Interpol notice to the judiciary.

Lebanon's caretaker defense minister, Elias Bou Saab, said Lebanon did not play any "official role" in Ghosn's departure from Japan, Reuters said in a separate report, citing Saab's interview to Lebanese broadcaster MTV.
