Petrofac to build crude processing facility at Iraq's Manjoon field

Petrofac Ltd has been awarded a $370-million contract for the expansion of the central processing facility at the Majnoon oil field in southern Iraq.

Under the terms of the deal, Petrofac will construct two oil processing trains, able to process 200,000 barrels of oil per day. The work is expected to be completed in 34 months.

The field currently produces more than 200,000 bbl/d.

In June, oil major Royal Dutch Shell PLC said it would turn over its 45% stake in Majnoon to state-run oil company Basra Oil Co. Petroliam Nasional Bhd., or Petronas, and the Iraqi State partner Missan Oil Co. hold 30% and 25% stakes, respectively, in Majnoon.
