UK-based insurance broker Clear agrees acquisition, eyes further deals in 2018

London-based Clear Group Ltd. unit Clear Insurance Management Ltd. acquired New Malden, U.K.-based commercial broker Robert Alexander Ltd.

Clear said the deal is its 22nd since its establishment in 2001 and takes its total premiums to more than £90 million. Robert Alexander's managing director, Bob Whiteway, will continue to lead the company's four-member team, who will move to Clear's offices in the City of London.

Clear CEO Howard Lickens said Feb. 20 that the company is set for more takeovers in 2018 and keen to begin talks with relevant brokers.

Robert Alexander handles more than £500,000 in premiums.
