Southern Power completes purchase of 40-MW Maine wind project

completedits acquisition of the40-MW Passadumkeag Mountainwind project in Bangor, Maine, on June 30, according to a July 6 notice of consummation.

The subsidiary acquiredthe facility from an affiliate of Quantum Power Investment Partners, which is majority-ownedby Quantum Energy Partners LLC.

FERCapproved the transactionApril 20. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The facilitywas originally set tobe acquired by SunEdison but the financially troubled company the deal in February.

The windfarm will supply 38.46 MW to EversourceEnergy subsidiary WesternMassachusetts Electric Co. under a 15-year contract while the remaining1.52 MW or any RECs in excess of 37.5 MW can be sold into the ISO New England Inc. market or to Western Massachusetts Electric.
