Gap to expand in India through shop-in-shop format

Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd., the Indian franchisee for Gap Inc., will roll out 17 store-within-a-store formats for the apparel retailer around the country, The Economic Times (India) reported March 5, citing an Arvind statement.

The franchisee reportedly said it intends to expand the availability of Gap products through multibrand retailers, including in smaller Indian locales. The shops will be launched in partnership with Kapsons Group, Iconic India and All That Jazz.

This will mark the first time that this Gap retail format is used in India. There are already 11 stand-alone Gap outlets in the country, according to the report.

Arvind Lifestyle Brands is a subsidiary of Indian textile producer Arvind Ltd.
