East Kentucky Power seeks 2017 coal at Spurlock, Gilbert units

is seeking spot coal for delivery to Spurlock units 1 and 2, as well as for itsGilbert units 3 and 4 at the H.L.Spurlock power station.

EKPCissued an RFP on Oct. 11, for spot deliveries of up to 120,000 tons of coal permonth for units 1 and 2, beginning Jan. 1, 2017, for a term of a maximum of sixmonths.

EKPCis seeking coal spec'd at a minimum 11,000 Btu/lb., and maximums of 15% ash and7 lbs. SO2/MMBtu, all on an "as received" basis.

ForGilbert units 3 and 4, the generation and transmission utility is seeking up to65,000 tons of coal per month, also beginning Jan. 1, 2017, for a term of up tothree months.

Coalspec'd should be at a minimum 9,000 Btu/lb., and maximums of 30% ash and 10lbs. SO2/MMBtu, all on an "as received" basis.

Theutility said it will consider all fuel options.

Theplant receives coal by barge on the Ohio River at mile post 414.1 or by rail atCharleston Bottoms, Ky., via CSXTransportation Inc. or TTI Railroad.
