Playfair Mining Ltd. has secured the necessary government permissions and landowner agreements to drill the Cloonacool prospect within the Ox Mountains gold project in Ireland.
According to an Oct. 7 release, the company has mobilized the drill rig at the property, with initial drilling aimed at exploring and extending the known outcropping gold mineralization.
The initial drill target is the area of a gold-bearing quartz vein intermittently outcropping over a strike length of 30 meters in a farmer's field.
The company recently discovered two prospects on the property, namely Cloonacool and Cabragh, which are the first ever reported gold occurrences in the Ox Mountains.
The previous program has defined a coherent area of 1,500 meters by 500 meters, containing several well mineralized boulders and an outcropping gold-bearing quartz vein. Eight angular blocks or boulders in this area range from 1.30 g/t gold to 17.2 g/t gold.
Playfair Mining has an option deal in place to acquire up to a 100% interest in Bowpark Exploration Ireland Ltd., a private company that holds three contiguous prospecting licenses over the Ox Mountains.
