John Wiley names new CEO

Brian Napack will be John Wiley & Sons Inc.'s new president and CEO, effective Dec. 4.

Matthew Kissner, who was named interim CEO after the departure of Mark Allin in May, will continue as chairman of the company's board.

Napack joins John Wiley from private equity firm Providence Equity Partners LLC, where he has been a senior adviser focused on investments in education and media. He also serves as a director on the boards of Blackboard, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Burning Glass, Ingram Industries, Recorded Books, myON, Synergis Education and Zero To Three, a science-based early childhood advocacy organization.

Napack will transition off certain of these boards due to his appointment at John Wiley, the company said Oct. 17.
