Grossnatural gas production in the U.S. accelerated its push higher in February,supported by rising output from Pennsylvania and Ohio, as well as Texas and NewMexico, according to a monthly report from the U.S. Energy InformationAdministration. Meanwhile, total crude oil production continued to slip.
Grossgas output edged 1.0%, or 0.95 Bcf/d, higher to 92.02 Bcf/d in February from91.07 Bcf/d in January, as a month-on-month drop in most states was offset byhigher production in states covering the Marcellus and Utica formations, aswell as in Texas and New Mexico, the EIA said in its latest "Monthly CrudeOil and Natural Gas Production" report released April 29.
TotalU.S. crude oil production declined 0.6% month on month from 9.18 millionbarrels per day in January to an estimated 9.13 MMbbl/d in February, the EIAsaid.
Productionof gas in February remained 2.6% above the same month in the previous yearwhile U.S. oil production was down 3.4% year on year.
Innatural gas production, Alaska saw production drop 0.22 Bcf/d, or 2.2%, on themonth and Wyoming saw production fall 3.6%, or 0.19 Bcf/d, while monthly lossesin other states were kept to less than 0.1 Bcf/d. However, rising production inthe Appalachian basin and in the south-central and Southwest U.S. more thanoffset the output declines. Pennsylvania production increased 0.51 Bcf/d, or3.5%, and Ohio output climbed 0.39 Bcf/d, or 10.7%. New Mexico posted anoteworthy production increase of 0.22 Bcf/d, or 6.8%, while output from Texasclimbed 0.17 Bcf/d, or 0.7%.

Reversingthe previous month's trend, Texas production slipped 40,000 bbl/d, or 1.2%, to3.32 MMbbl/d and oil production in the federal offshore Gulf of Mexico was downabout 34,000 bbl/d, or 2.1%, to about 1.58 MMbbl/d.
