Twitter to stream 2 original NBA shows

Twitter Inc.and The National Basketball Association have inked a deal for NBA to developexclusive, original content to air on Twitter's platforms, Bloomberg Newsreported July 19.

The microblogging service will reportedly broadcast twoexclusive shows developed by the NBA, along with rapid replays andbehind-the-scenes videos on its Periscope and Vine apps. Live games are notincluded in the deal as NBA's deals with Time Warner Inc.'s TNT (US) and Walt Disney Co.'s ABC (US) and ESPN (US) networks are valid until after the 2024-25season, according to the report.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, accordingto the report.

Twitter, which is moving toward video streaming across itsplatforms to increase ad revenue, recently won streaming rights for TheNational Football League's Thursday Night Football for the 2015 NFL regularseason. The company also inkeda live streaming deal for Pac-12 Plus, a network showcasing live eventsproduced by the 12 universities of the Pac-12 conference.
