UBS executive to head Julius Bär's Taiwan biz

Julius Bär Gruppe AG appointed Chew Mun-Yew head of its Taiwan-based subsidiary with immediate effect, finews.com reported Dec. 1.

Chew is joining the Swiss bank from peer UBS Group AG where he oversaw the wealth management business in Taiwan. At Julius Bär, he will report directly to David Shick, the head of the group's business in China.

The top-level appointment in Taiwan is a sign of Julius Bär's efforts to strengthen its local operations, which are growing at a slower pace than businesses in other parts of Asia such as Singapore, Hong Kong and China, according to finews.com.
