Westar, Great Plains set shareholder meetings for merger approval
Westar Energy Inc. and Great Plains Energy Inc. will hold special shareholder meetings Nov. 21 to secure approval for their $14 billion merger of equals. The boards of directors of both companies have already recommended shareholders to vote "for" each of the applicable proposals relating to the transaction.
Sempra Energy files for FERC, Texas approval of Oncor acquisition
Sempra Energy has filed its plans to acquire Oncor Electric Delivery Co. LLC with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Texas regulators. San Diego-headquartered Sempra filed its application with FERC (FERC docket EC18-2) and the Public Utility Commission of Texas on Oct. 5.
Enel Green Power sells majority stake in Mexican renewables projects for $1.35B
Enel SpA subsidiary Enel Green Power SpA has sold 80% of its stake in a holding company that owns eight solar and wind projects in Mexico with a total capacity of more than 1,700 MW for $1.35 billion. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2017, pending regulatory approval.
TerraForm Power shareholders approve Brookfield deal
TerraForm Power Inc. moved one step closer to completing its merger and sponsorship transaction with affiliates of Brookfield Asset Management Inc., after its shareholders approved the deal Oct. 6. All closing conditions have been satisfied, and TerraForm Power expects to close the deal Oct. 16.
FERC clears Rockland Capital purchase of gas-fired plant from Dynegy
FERC approved Rockland Capital LLC's proposed acquisition of the 692-MW Lee County Generating Station in Illinois from Dynegy Inc. for $180 million. Dynegy will use the sale proceeds to reduce its debt.
JPMorgan, Wells Fargo affiliates to invest in 3 NextEra wind projects
NextEra Energy Inc. is planning to sell its 100% nonmanaging class B membership interests in its three planned wind facilities to affiliates of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Wells Fargo & Co. FERC is requested to approve the transaction by Nov. 20.

Mercuria Energy America Inc. notified FERC on Oct. 5 that it completed the acquisition of Noble Americas Gas & Power Corp. from Noble Americas Corp. Mercuria completed the transaction Sept. 29.

Exelon Generation Co. LLC unit Constellation Energy Resources LLC completed the sale of 49.5% of its class A membership interests in the 46-MW Albany Green Energy Cogen Plant biomass facility to an affiliate of DCO Energy LLC.

A NextEra Energy Resources LLC subsidiary has completed the sale of its 17.54% interest in the 230-kV Sagebrush transmission line to a subsidiary of Terra-Gen Power Holdings II LLC. The parties consummated the transaction Sept. 28.
