The aggregate deficit across the U.K.'s 5,945 definedbenefit pension schemes rose to £383.6 billion at the end of June from £294.6billion at the end of May, numbers from the country's Pension Protection Fundshow.
Across the schemes, the aggregate deficit was £209.6 billionat the end of June 2015. The funding ratio of the schemes dropped to 78.0% atthe end of June from 81.5% at the end of May and 85.5% at the end of June 2015.
Also at the end of June 2016, 4,995 out of 5,945 schemeswere recorded as running a deficit that amounts to £416.3 billion.
