EMI NextGen's 1-GW project hits snag

EMI NextGen LLC failed to garner support for a modification inzoning bylaws at Uxbridge, Mass., to develop a 1,000-MW, naturalgas-fired power plant, The Valley Breeze inLincoln, R.I., reported April 6.

The town's bylaws limit the capacity of power plants to 350 MWand only allow combined capacity of 500 MW within town lines; the modification wouldhave doubled those limits.
