Barclays planning to close 30 UK branches

Barclays Plc is planning to close around 30 branches in the U.K. in October and November, City A.M. reported.

The decision will affect branches in Scotland and Wales, as well as Essex in southeast England, Merseyside in northwest England, Somerset and Devon in southwest England and the Isle of Wight in southern England.

The reduction of Barclays' branch network, which totaled 1,305 at the end of 2016, is attributable to customers visiting physical branches "less and less each year," according to a Barclays spokesperson.
