TiVo loses COO

Pete Thompson stepped down as executive vice president and COO of TiVo Corp., effective Oct. 6, "to pursue an external employment opportunity with a larger company."

President and CEO Tom Carson will take over the job responsibilities held by Thompson. Carson announced in May about his plans to retire from the company. The company, with the help of Spencer Stuart, has been searching for Carson's replacement and expects to announce a new CEO shortly.

Carson will continue in his current capacity until his successor is appointed, after which he will serve as an adviser to the board and the new CEO to ensure a smooth transition.
