Short bettors exit First Solar in 2nd half of September

First Solar Inc. had the largest decrease in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered power and gas companies between Sept. 15 and Sept. 29.

The company saw short interest fall 495 basis points to 5.34% of shares outstanding at the end of the period.

Amtech Systems Inc. had the biggest jump in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered power and gas companies between Sept. 15 and Sept. 29. The company saw short interest increase 112 basis points to 1.59% of shares outstanding at the end of the period.

Spark Energy Inc. topped the list of most shorted power and gas companies between Sept. 15 and Sept. 29. The company saw short interest slip 43 basis points to 27.51% of shares outstanding.

Arch Coal Inc. was the most shorted coal company in the second half of September. The company saw short interest rise 108 basis points to 13.28% of shares outstanding.
