Yakult Honsha fiscal Q3 profit climbs 33.9% YOY

Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥51.04 per share, a gain of 33.9% from ¥38.12 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥8.44 billion, an increase of 33.9% from ¥6.30 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 8.5% from 6.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 8.7% year over year to ¥99.41 billion from ¥91.49 billion, and total operating expenses grew 6.3% from the prior-year period to ¥86.56 billion from ¥81.47 billion.

Reported net income grew 20.9% from the prior-year period to ¥9.54 billion, or ¥57.71 per share, from ¥7.89 billion, or ¥47.74 per share.

As of Feb. 12, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.90.
