Associated Capital Group Inc. plans to launch a new private equity investment management business.

The business will focus on leveraged buyouts and the restructuring of small and midsized companies. Associated Capital recently formed Gabelli Private Equity Partners LLC to manage a private equity portfolio expected to be funded with up to $150 million of the company's capital.
