Aura Energy secures environmental approval for Tiris project

Aura Energy Ltd. said Oct. 5 that the Mauritanian government approved the environmental and social impact assessment for the company's Tiris uranium project, in line with its target schedule.

"This step is pivotal as the main project precursor to pursuing production offtake and project financing arrangements," Aura Energy Executive Chairman Peter Reeve said.

The approval covers all mining and processing activities, including the establishment of all the required management plans for radiation management.

Aura Energy will be required to set up a radiation monitoring system under the supervision and control of the National Radiation Protection, Nuclear Safety and Security Authority and is recommended to submit a quarterly report on the state of implementation of the project's the environmental and social management plan.
