General Motors Co. is recalling a total of 93,693 Chevrolet Trax models to fix an improperly welded joint at the front lower-control arms of the vehicles, according to a notice from the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall covers certain 2015-2018 Chevrolet Trax vehicles. The NHTSA said an improperly welded joint could result in partial separation of the lower-control from the car, impacting the vehicle's handling and steering and increasing the risk of crash.
GM dealers will inspect the impacted vehicles and replace the faulty parts, free of charge.
The recall notice follows a separate recall of 268,675 vehicles over defective engine and seatbelt software and another recall of 3.4 million pickup trucks and SUVs with braking problem.
