SaskPower to install 60 MW of solar

SaskPowerwill install 60 MW of ground-mount solar photovoltaic generation to helpSaskatchewan reach its target of 50% renewable energy supply by 2030.

The additional solar capacity is expected to be delivered tothe province's grid by 2021, according to a Sept. 22 company release, with thefirst 10 MW in service in 2018.

By the end of September, the provincial government-ownedutility will start looking for interested vendors for the first 10 MW of solarprojects, and a competitive procurement process is set to begin in December.SaskPower is also in the middle of talks with the First Nations Power Authorityfor two 10-MW solar projects, while the remaining 20 MW will be allotted forcommunity projects. The consultation for community projects will begin thisfall.
