Target Corp. announced Sept. 10 that it is looking to hire more than 130,000 seasonal workers across the U.S. for the upcoming holidays.
In 2018, the company added 120,000 staff in the country for the festive season. The general merchandiser said this year it will double the number of job openings focused on fulfilling digital orders from stores but still offer extra hours to current employees to accommodate their interest and availability.
About 125,000 of the available positions are for jobs at Target's retail locations, while approximately 8,000 workers will be deployed at its distribution and fulfillment centers.
All the roles will have a minimum starting wage of $13 per hour. Target plans to raise its minimum hourly wage to $15 by the end of 2020. All employees, including seasonal hires, will also receive benefits, like flexible schedules, and a 10% discount at the company's stores and on Target.com.
The company will host two hiring events in 2019 at all its U.S. stores, one from Oct. 11-13 and another on Nov. 2-3.
