Arizona Public Service Co. has signed a contract to purchase 565 MW of electricity from the Arlington Valley combined-cycle, natural gas-fired facility in Maricopa County, Ariz.

The contract will begin June 1, 2020, and will last for six years. The Pinnacle West Capital Corp. subsidiary awarded the contract to Star West Generation in conclusion to the request for proposals the company issued earlier in March.

According to S&P Global Market Intelligence data, Arizona Public Service is purchasing 579 MW from the same facility under a contract expiring October 2019.
