Pit wall fails at Finders' Wetar copper mine in Indonesia

A wall failure occurred within the Kali Kuning open pit at Finders Resources Ltd.'s majority-owned Wetar copper mine in Indonesia.

The company said June 18 that about 175,000 bank cubic meters of waste rock were displaced from the northeastern highwall into the pit on June 14, prompting the company to suspend mining operations for about six hours the next day to assess the situation.

Finders does not expect the incident to affect scheduled ore production and is implementing a recovery plan to rehabilitate the failure zone and access affected ore, with a revised mining schedule to be finalized over the coming weeks.
