The Competition Commission of India cleared Bayer AG's $62.5 billion acquisition of Monsanto Co., Reuters reported May 22.
The approval, reportedly among the deal's last antitrust clearance, is subject to compliance of certain modifications, the Indian regulator said in a tweet. Citing a source familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that the commission asked Bayer to divest its agriculture seeds, vegetable seeds, glufosinate-ammonium and digital agriculture business.
The deal recently received approval from South Africa's Competition Tribunal and required the sale of the entire global Liberty Link trait technology, Bayer's Liberty branded agrochemicals business as well as Bayer's South African cotton seed business.
Bayer has previously stated that it aims to close the deal in the second quarter.
