Marsh & McLennan/Jardine Lloyd Thompson deal secures US antitrust approval

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission granted an early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act regarding Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc.'s pending acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC.

Termination of the waiting period effectively concludes the competition review of both the FTC and the U.S. Justice Department. The deal remains subject to additional required antitrust and regulatory approvals, as well as the approval of JLT shareholders at a Nov. 7 meeting.
