GE files request to shed SIFI tag

on March 31filed its request to the Financial Stability Oversight Council for rescissionof General Electric Capital Corp.'sdesignation as a nonbank systemically important financial institution,according to a March 31 news release.

GECapital believes it does not pose any threat to U.S. financial stability and,as of March 31, no longer meets the criteria for designation as a nonbank SIFI,the company said.
