The French environment ministry has awarded contracts to roughly 300 renewables projects with a combined capacity of more than 700 MW.
Minister for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition Elisabeth Borne awarded contracts to 20 wind projects with a total capacity of 576 MW in France's fourth onshore wind tender, as well as 268 solar photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of 129.4 MW in the country's eighth rooftop solar tender.
The average price for the wind projects is €66.5/MWh over a period of 20 years. For the solar projects with a generation capacity between 100 kW and 500 kW, the average price is €97.48/MWh, while for projects between 500 kW and 8 MW, the average price is €86.54/MWh.
Among the awarded wind projects are Boralex Inc.'s 19.8-MW Seuil de Cambrésis Phase 2 wind farm and its 12.8-MW Extension de la Plaine d'Escrebieux wind farm. The projects have secured the required administrative approvals and are eligible for a feed-in premium contract for 20 years starting from the date of commissioning.
The projects will help France reach its target of increasing the share of renewables in the country's electricity production to 40% by 2030 from 20% at the end of 2018.
