Viridium Pacific Group Ltd., a Vancouver, British Columbia-based medical cannabis company, has appointed Jay Garnett as president and CEO, effective Oct. 15.

According to an Oct. 15 press release, Garnett's mandate will be to position the company for success as new markets open up in Canada with the Oct. 17 legalization of marijuana for recreational use. Garnett is on the board of Alteri Insurance and previously founded and later sold the online liquor platform New District.ca.

He will replace interim CEO Jarrett Malnarich, who will now become the company's senior vice president and COO.
