McDermott unit bags contract for Qatar Petroleum's North Field expansion project

McDermott Middle East Inc., a subsidiary of McDermott International Inc., was granted a front-end engineering design contract by state-owned Qatar Petroleum for work on its North Field expansion project for an undisclosed amount.

The contract includes engineering design for eight unmanned wellhead platform topsides, four 38-inch trunk lines and four 28-inch intrafield lines, all located offshore. Work is expected to take 12 months to complete.

The North Field expansion project is part of Qatar's plans to increase its LNG production capacity to 110 million tons per annum, from 77 million tons per annum.
