Ahold Delhaize unveils new parent company for US businesses

Dutch supermarket operator Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV on Dec. 7 announced the creation of Ahold Delhaize USA, which will become the new parent for its U.S. companies, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Ahold Delhaize USA will include all Ahold Delhaize brands in the U.S., including Stop & Shop, Food Lion, Giant, Hannaford, Giant/Martin’s and Peapod. Retail Business Service, a U.S. shared services company providing support to Ahold's U.S. brands, will also be part of the new division.

Ahold USA COO Kevin Holt has been appointed CEO of the new company. He will remain a member of the company's management board and executive committee, and will continue to report to Ahold Delhaize CEO Dick Boer.

The move is part of the company's brand-centric strategy in the U.S., according to the release.
