K+S temporarily resumes operations at Unterbreizbach

K+SAktiengesellschaft said July 11 that it has temporarily resumedoperations at the Unterbreizbach site of the Werra plant in Germany untilJuly 14.

The company interrupted operations at the site June 13because of the inability to dispose or temporarily store production wastewater,forcing approximately 350 employees in production and mining to work short time.

The company said it was able to reduce the amount oftemporarily stored saline wastewater in the basins, which allowed for atemporary resumption of production.

K+S also said that Epsom salt production work has resumed atits nearby Hattorf site, where operations were suspended June 15.Production is still at a standstill with about 650 employees being forced towork short time.

Short time work at both sites has totaled 60 days from thebeginning of the year.

Only the Wintershall site has not been affected byproduction shutdowns and short time work.
