Aeon Co. (M) Q3 profit falls YOY

Aeon Co. (M) Bhd. said its third-quarter normalized net income amounted to 2 Malaysian sen per share, a decrease of 26.4% from 3 sen per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 28.7 million ringgits, a decline of 26.4% from 39.0 million ringgits in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 3.1% from 4.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose on an annual basis to 940.8 million ringgits from 930.6 million ringgits, and total operating expenses grew from the prior-year period to 890.9 million ringgits from 867.6 million ringgits.

Reported net income fell 31.2% year over year to 30.0 million ringgits, or 2 sen per share, from 43.7 million ringgits, or 3 sen per share.
