Colombia's coal output slides 8.1% in Q3

Colombia's coal output posted an 8.1% cutback to 21.5 million tonnes in the third quarter, from 23.4 million tonnes in the year-ago period, Reuters reported Dec. 4, citing the national mining agency.

The world's fifth-largest coal exporter has so far produced 65.1 million tonnes of coal this year, a decrease of 4.4% year over year, the report said.

Coal giants in the Andean nation include Drummond Co. Inc., Glencore Plc, Murray Energy Corp. and Cerrejon, a joint venture owned by BHP Billiton Group, Glencore Xstrata and Anglo American Plc.
