Facebook Inc.recruited e-retailer Newegg Inc.in an effort to transform its Messenger platform into an e-commerce medium.
Newegg customers will be able to talk to customer support representativesthrough Facebook Messenger, along with email, SMS text messages and phone. Customersjust visit Newegg's Facebook page to send a message to the support team during businesshours. Messages sent outside those times will be answered the following businessday.
In May 2015, Facebook CFO Dave Wehner indicated the company's interest in connecting customersto businesses via Messenger.
