Eurosport interested in airing drone races

Discovery Communications Inc.'s European sports channel Eurosport is looking for potential partners to air drone racing, Reuters reported Oct. 5.

Drone racing entails competitors navigating small, remote-controlled aircraft — drones — through aerial obstacle courses at high speeds. Walt Disney Co.'s ESPN (US), Sky plc and Germany's ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE have already signed on to air drone races by the Drone Racing League, according to the report, with Sky plc agreeing to invest $1 million in the league.

The Drone Racing League, which is 15 months old, has reportedly inked a deal with MGM Television for the production of a reality series about the drone pilots.
