S&P Global Market Intelligence rounds up notable branch openings and closings over the past week. This wrap excludes certain moves by banks with more than $5 billion in assets and certain credit unions.

Mid-Atlantic

Scranton, Pa.-based Peoples Security Bank and Trust Co., a unit of Peoples Financial Services Corp., opened a branch at 3920 Tilghman St. in Allentown, Pa., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities' summary of activities.

Pennsylvania.-based Somerset Trust Co., a subsidiary of Somerset Trust Holding Co., obtained the state banking regulator's approval to open a branch at 117 S. Walnut Street in Ligonier, Pa.

Ithaca, N.Y.-based CFCU Community CU seeks to open a station at 200-204 E. State Street in Ithaca, according to the New York State Department of Financial Services' weekly banking bulletin.

Kingston, N.Y.-based Catskill Hudson Bank applied with the state banking regulator to open a branch at 101 Kings Mall Court in Kingston.

The bank is a unit of Catskill Hudson Bancorp Inc.

Newburgh, N.Y.-based Empire State Bank, a unit of ES Bancshares Inc., applied with the state banking regulator to open a branch at 6923 18th Ave., Brooklyn borough, in New York City.

Clinton, N.J.-based Unity Bank, a unit of Unity Bancorp Inc., filed an application with the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance for a branch at 475 Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey, N.J., according to the state regulator's depository application activity history.

PurePoint Financial, a hybrid digital bank and division of MUFG Union Bank NA, opened two financial centers in New York, on Park Avenue in Manhattan and on Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale. The digital bank also plans to open another financial center, in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., later in 2017, according to a press release.

MUFG Union Bank is a subsidiary of MUFG Americas Holdings Corp.

Pennsylvania-based Honesdale National Bank, a subsidiary of Honat Bancorp Inc., seeks to open a branch at 651 Northern Blvd. in Clarks Summit, Pa., according to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Midwest

Merrillville, Ind.-based Centier Bank, a subsidiary of First Bancshares Inc., is opening a full-service branch at 108 N. Main St. in South Bend, Ind.

The branch is the first bank to open in downtown South Bend in more than a decade, according to a press release.

Aberdeen, S.D.-based Dacotah Bank, a unit of Dacotah Banks Inc., will close two branches — in Cresbard, S.D., and in Regent, N.D. — on Dec. 15, according to a press release.

Bloomington, Minn.-based Bridgewater Bank opened a branch at 2445 Shadywood Rd. in Orono, Minn. The branch is the bank's sixth location overall, according to a press release.

Bridgewater Bancshares Inc. is the bank's parent company.

Rockford, Ill.-based Foresight Financial Group Inc. will open corporate offices in Winnebago, Ill., according to the company's August newsletter. The location is expected to open by early fall.

Albion, Mich.-based Homestead Savings Bank opened a mobile courier service at 415 S. Superior St. in Albion, according to the OCC's website.

Waverly, Iowa-based First National Bank, a unit of First of Waverly Corp., intends to close its branch at 2421 Whitetail Dr. in Cedar Falls, Iowa, according to the OCC's website.

The OCC approved London, Ky.-based Cumberland Valley National Bank & Trust Co.'s application to open a branch at 1721 Nicholasville Rd. in Lexington, Ky.

The bank is a subsidiary of Cumberland Valley Financial Corp.

Northeast

Lowell, Mass.-based Align CU received the Massachusetts Division of Banks' non-objection to open a branch at 211G Lowell St. in Wilmington, Mass., according to the state regulator's July activity report.

Everett, Mass.-based Eagle Bank seeks to close its branch in the Stop & Shop Supermarket at 471 Salem St. in Medford, Mass., according to the state regulator's July activity report.

Massachusetts-based East Boston Savings Bank, a unit of Meridian Bancorp Inc., applied with the state banking regulator for a branch at 1614 Tremont St., in Boston.

Southeast

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond approved Kilmarnock, Va.-based Chesapeake Bank's application to establish a branch at 2300 Cedarfield Pkwy. in Richmond, Va., according to a Federal Reserve release.

The bank is a unit of Chesapeake Financial Shares Inc.

Strasburg, Va.-based First Bank, a subsidiary of First National Corp., obtained the Richmond Fed's approval to open a branch at 5601 Patterson Ave. in Richmond.

Asheville, N.C.-based HomeTrust Bank, a unit of HomeTrust Bancshares Inc., applied with the Richmond Fed for a branch at 1315 Bradford View Dr. in Cary, N.C.

The New York State Department of Financial Services authorized Doraville, Ga.-based Metro City Bank to open an office at 138-35 39th Ave., Space D-1, in Flushing, Queens borough, New York City.

The bank is a subsidiary of MetroCity Bankshares Inc.

Reston, Va.-based Access National Bank, a subsidiary of Access National Corp., intends to close its branch at 300 Fort Evans Rd. NE, Suite 103, in Leesburg, Va., according to the OCC's website.

Blacksburg, Va.-based National Bank of Blacksburg, a unit of National Bankshares Inc., intends to close its branch at 303 S. Commerce St. in Marion, Va., according to the OCC's website.

Charleston, W. Va.-based City National Bank of West Virginia, a unit of City Holding Co., obtained the OCC's approval to open a branch at 617 23rd St., Suite 4, in Ashland, Ky.

The Arkansas State Bank Department approved Batesville, Ark.-based First Community Bank's application to open a branch at 4900 Kavanaugh Blvd. in Little Rock, Ark., according to the state regulator's website.

The bank is a subsidiary of First Community Bancshares Inc.

The Arkansas banking regulator approved the application filed by Searcy, Ark.-based First Security Bank for a branch at 108 S. Main St. in Bentonville, Ark.

The Alabama State Banking Department approved Boaz, Ala.-based Peoples Independent Bank's application to open a loan production office at 2100 Club Dr., Suite 250, in Gadsden, Ala.

Atoka, Okla.-based AmeriState Bank applied with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City for a de novo branch at 109 S. Jefferson and U.S. Highways 69 and 75 in Tushka, Okla.

The bank is a subsidiary of Atoka State Bancorp. Inc.

Cerritos, Calif.-based First Choice Bank is set to open a branch in Carlsbad, Calif., according to the bank's summer 2017 newsletter.
