Update: Palo Alto Networks buying two cybersecurity companies

Palo Alto Networks Inc. entered into definitive agreements to acquire two cybersecurity companies to extend its new cloud security suite Prisma.

Palo Alto Networks will acquire Twistlock Inc. for approximately $410 million in cash. Twistlock is a container security company which combines vulnerability management, compliance, and runtime defense for cloud-native applications and workloads. Under the terms of the agreement, Twistlock co-founders, Ben Bernstein and Dima Stopel will join Palo Alto Networks.

Palo Alto Networks is also buying serverless architectures security provider PureSec Ltd. Financial terms of this acquisition were not disclosed. PureSec provides end-to-end security for serverless functions, including vulnerability management, access permissions, and runtime threats. PureSec co-founders, Shaked Zin, Ory Segal, and Avi Shulman will also join Palo Alto Networks.

The acquisitions will enable Palo Alto Network to offer Prisma to organizations across the entire cloud environment, the company said May 29.

The company expects to close both acquisitions, which are subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, during its fiscal fourth quarter.
