Boutiqueinvestment bank Greenhill &Co. Inc. has added four managing directors in 2016, and the companyhas a goal to add significantly more in 2017, CEO Scott Bok said.
SpeakingSept. 27 during a JMP Securities investor conference, Bok said it is possiblethat Greenhill can add one or two more managing directors before year-end.However, he was optimistic the company could increase the pace of new hires in2017 based on conversations Greenhill is having with recruits.
Boksaid successful recruiting helps drive long-term growth. Greenhill 2015 with 71 managingdirectors, up from64 at year-end 2014, according to the company's two most recent Form 10-Kfilings.
Boksaid a focus of recruiting is to hire investment bankers who can add toGreenhill's sector expertise as opposed to investment bankers who specialize inproducts, such as M&A or restructuring. Having several i-bankers withsector expertise helps Greenhill build relationships with more clients and putsthe company in a position to assemble a team of individuals to work ondifferent types of transactions, Bok said.
