Arch Capital expects up to $345M negative impact to Q3 results from catastrophes

Arch Capital Group Ltd. expects a preliminary negative impact from catastrophes to third-quarter results of $285 million to $345 million after tax, net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums.

Catastrophic events in the quarter included in the estimates are hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria; the earthquakes in Mexico; and other more minor global events. The company has determined a range for total industry insured losses across all third-quarter events of $80 billion to $100 billion.
