Convergent Energy & Power to purchase 2 energy storage facilities

Convergent Energy & Power LP has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to purchase two energy storage facilities from a subsidiary of Rockland Power Partners.

Spindle Grid Regulation, a subsidiary of Rockland Power, owns the 20-MW Stephentown Flywheel Energy Storage Plant, located in Stephentown, N.Y., and the 20-MW Hazle Township Flywheel Energy Storage, located in Hazle Township, Pa. Upon consummation of the transaction, Rockland Power, a subsidiary of Rockland Capital LLC, will not have any affiliation with the energy storage facilities, according to a Feb. 23 filing.

Convergent Energy & Power owns a 500-kW energy storage facility in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. The commission has been asked to approve the transaction by April 9. (FERC docket EC18-62)
