The first original series by subscription video-on-demand service Hooq is slated to premiere in the first quarter of 2017, World Screen reported Dec. 9.
The six-part series, "OTJ: The Missing 8," is based on Erik Matti's 2013 Filipino crime drama film "On the Job," and is centered around the investigation into the massacre of eight journalists.
The show is produced by Matti's independent film studio Reality Entertainment, in collaboration with Globe Studios, the digital entertainment content unit of the Philippines' Globe Telecom.
Hooq will make the series available to subscribers in the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and India, according to a Dec. 10 report by the Sun Star.
The SVOD service is a joint venture between Singtel, Sony Pictures Television Inc. and Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros.
