Japan banks' lending up 2.7% in November

Japanese banks' lending rose to ¥518.1 trillion in November, up 2.7% year over year after 2.8% growth in October, preliminary data from the Bank of Japan showed Dec. 8.

Excluding shinkin banks, or credit unions, lending gained 2.7%, to ¥450.5 trillion. This compared to a 2.8% rise in October.

Lending from shinkin banks added 2.6% to ¥67.6 trillion. It had also grown by 2.6% in October.

As of Dec. 7, US$1 was equivalent to ¥112.73.
