Escalade profit beats consensus by 21.7% in fiscal Q3

Escalade Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Oct. 1 was 25 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 21 cents per share.

EPS increased 98.8% year over year from 13 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $3.6 million, a gain of 99.3% from $1.8 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 9.9% from 5.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 12.2% year over year to $38.8 million from $34.6 million, and total operating expenses grew from the prior-year period to $33.5 million from $32.7 million.

Reported net income rose from the prior-year period to $4.3 million, or 30 cents per share, from $2.0 million, or 14 cents per share.
